Oregon Seabird Colony Locations (Points), USFWS, 2008

Abstract: A total of 393 seabird colonies were identified along the Oregon coast in Clatsop, Tillamook, Lincoln, Lane, Coos, and Curry Counties, Oregon.  Current and historical information on colony locations and estimates of breeding seabirds were compiled into databases for all known seabird colonies in Oregon.  This data set represents point locations for all of Oregon's seabird colonies with associated attribute information.  The attribute information includes counts of nests and birds, where available, and estimates of the number of breeding birds for each species at a colony.  Specific information regarding date, observers, type of survey, quality of the estimate, and source of the data are also provided for each record.  For linear onshore colonies, the location is described by the center point. For groups of offshore rocks and islands, the location is described by the centroid of the digitized group boundary. For offshore colonies, the location is described by the centroid of the digitized rock or island. For complexes, the location is described by the centroid of the digitized complex boundary. USGS 1:24,000 Digital Raster Graphics (DRGs) and (Digital Orthographic Quandrangles) DOQs were used as references.  The primary source for this data is:
